Dr. Jan Berger is a tri-sector healthcare executive with over 30 years of healthcare experience across the stakeholder spectrum. For 11 years, Dr. Berger served as the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer of CVS Health. Most recently, Dr. Berger has lead Health Intelligence Partners, an international healthcare consulting company focused on the intersection of strategy and operations. In addition to this leadership role, Jan sits on the board of directors of UCB Pharmaceuticals, Cambia Health Solutions, GNS Healthcare, Voluntis and Tabula Rasa Health Care.

As the author of the books “Leveraging Health”, “Thirteen Common Pitfalls in Consumer Engagement”, “We Don’t Talk Anymore: A Consumer’s Guide to Connecting with their Doctor”, “Medical Liability for Pediatricians” and “Re-Engaging in Trust: The Missing Ingredient to Fixing Healthcare”, the past Editor in Chief of American Journal of Pharmacy Benefit and on the editorial boards of a number of healthcare journals, Dr. Berger is considered a national healthcare thought leader. She speaks and writes on a broad range of healthcare and pharmaceutical services issues. 

Dr. Berger holds both a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master’s degree in Jurisprudence from Loyola University in Chicago, and a certificate in Healthcare Business Administration from University of South Florida. She also holds a black belt in Six Sigma. Dr. Berger is an assistant professor at Northwestern University School of Medicine and School of Communication in Chicago, Illinois where she teaches the Engaging the Consumer in Health course.
